Crafting with Kids- DIY Kids Walking Sticks

I just finished my first month at home with my beautiful boys full time. It’s been full of adventures and sleep (two things that were difficult to come by when juggling full time work, taking care of my boys and running Apiary). I’m finding that I can’t jam pack our days with too many activities, but it is nice to have a small activity or craft for William and I while Theodore naps. With a tight budget but a craftroom bursting at the seams, I’ve been looking for nature themed crafts; something we can easily find while adventuring and then can raid Mama’s stash to fancy up. I knew about painting rocks and pressing flowers, but while we were on a hike, both boys picked out walking sticks for the outing and the idea to paint and embellish them took over. We brought the sticks out and I raided my craft room for paint, leather, and sweet little beads a friend brought back for me from Peru a few years ago. They were SO easy and the boys just love them. I’m thinking about making a few more to place at the entrances of our favorite hiking trails and coming up with a fun hashtag to keep track of them!

What are your favorite activities and crafts to turn your days into memories for your kiddos?
